Antares Artworks became a vision in 2008 after graduating school with honors and as Suma Cum Laude, with a BA in Art and then moving to Laguna Beach, CA. My mediums were undetermined although my college career was full of drawing and printmaking and creating to my hearts content. I loved to be in my art in every way. It was and expression of my world view and all the ideas I could not express with words. In 2015 Antares Artworks went from vision to reality as I launched my art at the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, CA.
To give you some background, I grew up in a small town on the Diné Reservation in Northeastern Arizona and on 40 acres in the mountains in Colorado. My memories of being connected to the landscape and culture around me as a child fed my curiosity and opened my creativity in ways I never thought possible. I have become the art I create and love knowing that my life itself is a work of art.
The mediums I have chosen to work with bring about waves of color and context. I enjoy working with the different natural elements in my work, such as fire and the liquid nature of glass. I enjoy the precision that beadwork requires and the beautiful designs that come together when finished. I love also the freedom that textiles offer and the familial history that this medium engages me in. Ultimately, nature is a major influence in my life and work. I find harmony, connection and meaning through nature and it has become the basis of my spiritual connection and creativity.
Art has the potential to have a major influence on our world view and how we move and process the natural and human landscape around us. My art strives to engage people in the beauty of the world around us and incorporate that beauty in our everyday lives, so we may live in a more peaceful and integrative existence.
Today, Antares Artworks has adopted a few different avenues and missions. I do primarily commision work, although I am toying with the idea of doing the Sawdust Art Festival one more time. My work is shown primarily on social media although I am looking for a gallery to show. I do commissions based on connection! People often feel an affinity to my style and reach out for specific projects for themselves or for people they have in mind. I am always open to ideas and if you see something that feels unique to you, let’s have a conversation! Please sign up on the email list or contact me directly.
